iTunes 12.2.1.16 Custom Installers

iTunes 12.2.1.16 was released yesterday and this is the changelog:

  • Fixes an issue for iTunes Match users where iTunes incorrectly changed some songs from Matched to Apple Music.
  • Provides a way to correct a library problem affecting former iTunes Match subscribers.
  • Includes minor bug fixes and improvements for Beats 1.

Apple published a support document titled “If some songs that were previously matched by iTunes Match show up as Apple Music songs in iTunes” for people to fix this annoying problem.

Trying to correct that can lead users to permanently delete their songs without any means for recovery if they want to remove a song that was incorrectly added as an apple Music song. Take a look at this article in 9to5 Mac before doing anything to understand what are the options supposed to do when deleting songs.

My new installers are already published and ready to download.

I’ve seen reports from some users that they are getting an error with the previous versions of my installers when they are self-extracting. I haven’t the time to investigate thoroughly but fi you get this “Unsupported Method” error, extract the files and run the MSI setup files in this order:

  • iTunes.msi
  • AppSupport.msi
  • AppSupport64.msi
  • MobileDeviceSupport.msi

You can install them silently using the Windows Run dialog using the standard /qb /norestart parameters.
